World Theatre Day, celebrated every year on March 27, is a global occasion to recognize the importance of theatre in fostering creativity, dialogue, and cultural understanding. On this special day, People’s Theatre Organization (PTO) joins the international theatre community in celebrating the art of performance as a force for inspiration and change.
PTO commemorates the day by organizing inclusive theatre performances, youth-led productions, workshops, and public discussions that bring attention to issues affecting our communities — such as education, child rights, climate justice, and social equity. Through storytelling, roleplay, and creative expression, children and youth from diverse backgrounds come together to raise their voices and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.
For PTO, World Theatre Day is not only a celebration of the stage — it is a celebration of voices often unheard, dreams often unseen, and talents often overlooked. It is a reminder that theatre is for everyone, and through it, we can imagine and build a better, more empathetic world.
